Help

This is new to me....so not sure if I am where I am supposed to be at. Years ago I gambled went to counseling/treatment and found that I really just wasnt very happy in my marriage. Since then have gambled on and off here and there. Well, now I am back doing it the last couple months here and there. Today, at home crying. I do not like myself very much right now! I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE!!!!!! I so want to stop, everything in my life has been positive and great. Except money, I do not have the money and I only gamble when I have a couple drinks and then I do not care. I assume I must quit both! I need support...please and thank you!

Welcome, your doing the right thing now so be proud of yourself. Have you considered going back to counseling, if affordable?

It would be wise to quit both (gambling & drinking), as you mentioned you noticed it adds fuel to the fire & have you explored why you arent happy in your marriage or are you divorced now?

Choose wisely, treat kindly

Thanks so much for responding! I have been divorced for 8 years, just married the wrong person. Much happier now, nice man...we were just way too different. I have so many positives in my life going on right now, I am so grateful for so many things.....I am so disappointed that I can get past this demon, I have decided to call it. Not sure about the counseling....if I want to go there right now! I live in a pretty small town! Went to Gamblers anonymous years ago and almost made me want to gamble more. Have reached out to several friends and have asked for help. I am such a positive person 99% of the time, I almost feel like a hypocrite right now. Crazy huh! I know I have several things on my plate that I can not get to like I want, and I am not sure if I am self sabotoging on purpose! Interesting isnt it, what we do to ourselves. Thanks so much for taking the time and listening! I JUST DONT WANT TO FEEL LIKE THIS ANYMORE OR DO THIS ANYMORE!!!!!!

Do you think maybe you suffer from depression and need medication? Depression makes people do a lot of things from gambling to being a shopping addict.

lb1, sounds like your figuringout what may be the trigger & you should explore that possibility "Self sabotaging" along w/what KittyBella mentioned w/depression, does that run in your genetic link?
